A dedication to international patient care
As a young doctor in the late 1980s, Dr. Connor boarded a plane from New York to Nepal bearing nothing but a suitcase and his endoscope. There, he discovered his fascination with international medicine. By the time he’d returned, he and his colleagues had begun to develop an entirely new field of study, which would become known as Travel Medicine.
Dr. Connor's dedication to his patients has been unwavering. He is a founding member and former president of the International Society of Travel Medicine. Since 1999, he has served as an Advisor to the White House Medical Unit. A Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Connor has gone on to establish and lead the New York Center for Travel and Tropical Medicine. Furthermore, he oversees the New York City branch of GeoSentinel, a medical research network backed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He additionally serves as an external consultant for the CDC's Division of Quarantine and Global Migration.
